Week 6 - Camera Use - High Key Lighting - Research

Cindy Sherman

Cynthia "Cindy" Morris Sherman (born January 19, 1954) is an American photographer and film director, best known for her conceptual portraits. In 1995, she was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.

She takes self portraits that have no resemblance to herself because she is pretending to be someone else.

I also looked at the book called Photography, the 50 most influential photographers of all time. Published 2009. Page 126 to 127.

This photo is of a person which is a portrait. It is of Cindy Sherman so it is a self portrait. The photo was taken inside a studio. High Key studio lighting. It is artificial light.

This photo was taken in a studio with high key lighting. I see cool colours which are green blue and purple.

Yvonne Todd

Yvonne Todd (born 1973, TakapunaAuckland) is a contemporary New Zealand photographer known for her manipulation of conventional photographic techniques and genres.[1]

I've read the magazine New Zealand D-Photo, issue 64 Feb-Mar 2015. Page 28 to 37. This is an article on Yvonne Todd's exhibition in Wellington. I went to this exhibition.

In this photo I see high key lighting. It was taken in a studio. I can see a lot because the photo is bright from studio lights.

I see a cat and its face looks blurred. The photo was taken in a studio with high key lighting. There is a little bit of shadow and it is low contrast.
