Week 2 - Digital Technology 1 - The main benefits of Raw, Tiff, Psd and Jpeg files

Raw Files
It doesn't take too much memory on the camera at all.
Opens up a lot more options in post production.
Get  the highest level of quality.
Record greater levels of brightness
Early correct, over and under exposed photos.
Easily adjust white balance.
Get better detail.
Non destructive editing.
Get better prints.
PSD
Photoshop Document PSD
PSD file extension
Recommended as working files due to large storage

Tiff files
Tagged Image File Format
Larger than JPEG
Can be uncompressed or compressed using lossless compression
Keep layers
Save as 32bit, 24bit or 16bit
Save as CMYK or RGB or Grayscale
Wide range of resolution
(Typically use 300dpi)
Alpha channels.

Jpeg files
JPEG a format for compressing image file Joint Photographic Experts Group the name of the committee that created the JPEG standard.
High control degree of compression
Small file size satiable for full colour and contrast transition.
