Term 2 - Week 2 - Digital Technology 2 - Kieran Scott Response

Kieran Scott

Evaluation:
For this Project I'm am working in the genres of Documentary and Photojournalism. Kieran Scott uses these genres. I 'm documenting flowers going from the garden to home.

I have experimented with techniques that Kieran Scott uses. I experimented with photographing a process and high angles.

I have photographed the process of roses going from the garden to the shop to home.

I like taking photos of the flowers at the Parnell Rose Gardens. I used to live in Parnell and go to the Rose Gardens quite often. I'm not allowed to pick the flowers at the Rose Gardens so the Photos that I've taken for this series were staged.

Contextualisation:
Looking at Kieran Scott's work he uses a lot of different angles. When photographing food he uses different ideas, variety of focus points. Often the photos are blurred and in focus. He enjoys experimenting and getting out all sorts of weather and light to capture some amazing movement. One of my favourites is the one with them in the water and boat.

F5.6 1/250 ISO 400
This is my first photo that I've taken at the gardens. This is the first part of the process of flowers ending up at home.   The photo is still a bit over exposed in the background. It was a bright sunny day.

In camera raw I've changed the highlights down to -22, shadows up to +22 and the exposure down to -0.75

F5.6 1/125 ISO 400
This is the second photo of the process. It is of the bright pink flower which is going to be picked. I like this photo because I like that it is a shallow depth of field. I can see some rain drops on the flower because it had been rainy very earlier in the day. The rose is in focus and the leaves are out of focus. This photo has been taken with a shallow depth of field.

In camera raw I've changed the highlights down to -15.

F5.6 1/125 ISO 400
This is the third photo that I've taken. It is the gardener that is going to pick the flower and take it to the florist. There is leading lines and repetition of the garden. I think the highlights are still a little bit bright.

In camera raw I've changed the highlights down to -20, the whites down to -23 and the exposure to -0.90.

F6.3 1/50 ISO 400

This is the fourth photo that I've taken of the roses at the florist. This photo has been taken from a high angle. This is the full photo because there is lots of colour from lots of roses. I've uses the high angle technique like Kieran Scott.

In camera raw I've changed the shadows up to + 2 and the highlights down to -15.

F6.3 1/60 ISO 400
This is the fifth photo that I've taken of the pink roses in the vase at home. This is at the end of the process of roses. The background is perfectly exposed. The highlights are a bit bright. I've straightened this photo with the ruler on camera raw. The flowers are in focus and the other things are out of focus.

In camera raw I've changed the shadows up to +10, the highlights down to -23, the contrast up to + 6 and the exposure down to -0.65. The background in the photo was a bit over exposed.

F8 1/25 ISO 400
This is a photo of the pink flowers on the black chair from a high angle. The high angle is expired by Kieran Scott. It was not very easy to get a birds eye view high angle. The tripod would make it a lot easier.

In camera raw I've changed the shadows up to +13. The photo was a bit too dark.

F22 1/200 ISO 6400

I've taken this photo of food form a high angle because I was looking down. I was influenced by Kieran Scott who does food photography from a high angle.
